Doctoral Researcher in Media Education (University of Lapland, Finland)

Interdisciplinary researcher exploring hybrid learning, metacognition, student wellbeing and digital learning environments through multimethod research.

Teaching is an integral part of my academic practice, with courses focusing on media education, educational technologies and research methods and informed by research-based, participatory pedagogies.

RESEARCH

My research explores learning profiles, metacognitive awareness and approaches to learning in relation to study-related burnout in hybrid learning environments. Situated at the intersection of media education, higher education pedagogy, and cognitive and learning sciences, the research examines how hybrid and digital learning environments shape learning, wellbeing and student agency.

The research is conducted within the Media Education Hub (University of Lapland) and carried out in collaboration with the Centre for University Teaching and Learning (HYPE, University of Helsinki) through doctoral supervision and the use of the HowULearn research framework.

The research aims to contribute to more sustainable, human-centred and evidence-informed higher education in increasingly digital learning environments.

Methods: Multimethod research using quantitative statistical analysis (SPSS & R), and qualitative content analysis.
