Artistic vision
"Building spaces where bodies can resist inherited systems."
Katri Koivuneva (1983) is a Finnish contemporary dance artist whose work explores the relationships between bodies and the structures they inhabit. Moving between contemporary dance, performance, spatial and digital dramaturgies, and conceptual artistic processes, her work examines how institutional, social, material and technological structures shape perception, interaction, agency and embodied experience. Through immersive and participatory artistic processes, she creates spaces where these relationships can be collectively experienced, questioned and reimagined.

Drawing on media education, higher education pedagogy, digital culture and interdisciplinary research, Koivuneva explores how people learn, think and navigate increasingly technological environments. Through academic research, writing, creative practice, consulting and educational collaborations, she examines how metacognitive awareness, embodiment and collective reflection can cultivate critical, creative and sustainable engagement with technological change.
Her academic, educational and artistic work are not separate practices but different expressions of the same ongoing inquiry.
